Which of the Most Disturbing Movies Are Based on True Stories?

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

The original 1974 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre' was inspired by the notoriously demented serial killer Ed Gein, who killed two victims and proceeded to use the skin and bones of the deceased to make household furniture, skin masks and all sorts of other disturbing memorabilia.
The usage of those disturbing facts in the creation of Leatherface and the rest of the villainous family are the extent of reality in 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre' and all of its hackneyed sequels, spin-offs, and 3-D installments. Leatherface certainly wasn't a real murderer, and the terrorized victims in the film are entirely fictional. 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre' is minorly rooted in reality, but Norman Bates, Hannibal Lecter, and countless other slasher flick villains are all loosely based on the same real-life psycho.
