India Today Conclave 2014: Bollywood's big and beautiful

Bollywood is a heady concoction of flavours - from soft to intense and flash- in- thepan successes to lingering and long lasting artistry. It is a spectrum of talent and there are always flavours of the season.

For the dimpled beauty Deepika Padukone, 2013 was the lucky year. She scored a hattrick of 100 crores, with Race 2 , Yeh Jawaani hai Deewani and Chennai Express and more recently, touched the pinnacle of her acting career so far with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Goliyon ki Rasleela Ram- Leela . The rocking chemistry between Deepika and co- star Ranveer Singh in the movie left audiences spellbound and critics asking for more.

Matching Deepika's dimpled charm, Ranveer Singh is like the boy next door who gushed with joy the first time he got to film abroad for Gunday - his fifth film. But with his chiselled physique and diligence, he has gradually got himself a foot- space in the Khan- dominated Bollywood bandwagon. With performances like those of a small town entrepreneur in Band Baja Baaraat , a loveless lover boy in Ladies vs Rickey Bahl , a thug in Lootera , the restless and reluctant cult leader in Goliyon ki Rasleela Ram- Leela and the refugee boy in Gunday , Bollywood is gradually coming to accept him as a versatile actor in his own right.
Finally a Bollywood flick goes much beyond the lure of its leading ladies and heroes. It is a hotbed of talent that flourishes in all shapes and sizes. Meet Kalki Koechlin, the Indian film actress of French descent who debuted in Anurag Kashyap's critically acclaimed Hindi film Dev. D . She has held plots together through her supporting performances in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani , Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara , among others.

Recently, she made waves with the satirical video, titled It's Your Fault that took on the people with the mindset that women are responsible for the rise in sexual assault cases against them.

Kangana Ranaut not disappointed with her films being shelved

Actress Kangana Ranaut has said that two of her films 'Ungli' and 'I Love NY' have been canned but she is not disappointed about it.

'I Love New Year', a romantic-comedy directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, stars Sunny Deol and Kangana. The film was initially to be released in February last year, then it got pushed to April, to September and later December the same year, but did not hit the screens.

The exact reason for the delay was not known, but it was reportedly shelved due to the poor response to its trailer and not so good outcome of Sunny's last few films at the box office.

Her another project, Karan Johar's home production 'Ungli', starring Emraan Hashmi, Sanjay Dutt, Neha Dhupia, Randeep Hooda and others and directed by Rensil D'Silva, was earlier expected to release in 2013.
Though earlier Karan Johar had tweeted that 'Ungli' will release on May 23 this year, Kangana says the film has been canned.

When asked about both her impending films, Kangana says, "It is canned right? I think it's (the films) canned."

When asked if she feels disappointed, she said, "Why would I be frustrated, I have got my pay cheque. I am safe and hence there is no reason for to be disappointed."

Her other forthcoming projects are 'Queen', which will release on March 7, and Tigmanshu Dhulia's film 'Revolver Rani', scheduled to release this year.

Lady Gaga or Jennifer Lopez, who is Sunny Leone aping in Baby Doll?

The latest song of Ragini MMS 2 Baby Doll featuring hot and happening Sunny Leone is under scanner. The song showcasing plenty of leg, black gloves, cup pose and background of writhing bodies brings across a lot of similarity with not just one but three different artists from the west.

Lady Gaga's Applause, Jennifer Lopez's Dance Again and Dev's In the Dark bring uncanny resemblance.

However, when a leading publication contacted producer Ekta Kapoor and asked if J.Lo "inspired" the sequence in the song, she promptly replied with an emphatic, "Noooo."

The song which has received nearly 4 million views on YouTube shows the adult movie star tumbling onto a pile of seminaked bodies.

The publication also quoted Manmeet of Meet Bros., who has sung the track as saying, "Yes, a lot of people called in to point out the similarity. Sometimes the visual artist working on the song likes a certain sequence so much that it creeps into their work. I feel that's what happened with Baby Doll too."
