Samsung's recently unveiled Series 9 Ultrabook is now available for purchase.
The 13.3-inch Ultrabook is powered by an Intel Core i7 processor ticking at 2GHz, 4GB of RAM memory and 128GB of SSD storage. It has a 1,920 x 1,080-pixel screen, an Intel HD Graphics 4000 graphics chip and a 1.3-megapixel webcam.
On the software side, the Series 9 is powered by Windows 8, though it doesn't take advantage of all its capabilities since it doesn't have a touchscreen.
Samsung fit all of that into a 12.35 x 8.6 x 0.51-inch case, and the entire package weighs 2.56 pounds.
The new Series 9 ultrabook starts at $1,399.99 — quite a surprise given the originally intended price was $1,899 (though that was the price for the model with a 256GB SSD).
At this price point, it's a much more serious competitor to, say, Apple's 13-inch MacBook Air, which offers double the storage but a slower processor and a lower screen resolution for the same price.
