Jai Ho managed a three-day collection of around Rs.58.5 crore despite opening on the Republic Day weekend. With the film releasing on a mammoth scale across 5,000 screens, the trade analysts had expected the movie to cross the 100-crore mark in two days. Early trends indicate Jai Ho will stru- ggle to earn Rs.100 crore in about a week and chances of the film matching the monstrous 500- crore global intake of Dhoom 3 are dim. Jai Ho opened on a disappointing note on Friday, collecting Rs.17.5 crore. The scene was worse on day two (Rs.16 crore). Sunday saw ticket sales shoot up (Rs.25 crore) but early reports on Monday collections were hardly encouraging.
Occupancy has been far below estimates. The film has seen around 80 per cent occupancy in single screens. The percentage for multiplexes stands at over 50. Salman's latest also fails to match his own record. The Rs.17.5-crore opening day seems insignificant compared to the Rs.32.9 crore firstday earning that Ek Tha Tiger co- starring Katrina Kaif did in 2012. Jai Ho may scrape through to become a hit and ensure some profits for its makers but the trade is disappointed as something special was expected from a Salman starrer releasing after well over a year since the superstar last hit the marquee with Dabangg 2. While most feel the lack of originality led to the film's disappointing show, others point at publicity overkill.
Not exactly known for smiling at the lurking paparazzi when they go a-clickin', Twilight actress Kristen Stewart pulled one of her well-known moody antics on the busy cameras yet again.
According to reports, the Hollywood actress who was partying with her peeps in Park City at Tao during the Sundance Film Festival, caught someone clicking a picture of her. And that's when she took out her now-famous middle finger and let the person know exactly how she felt.
The actress has been known to do this quite a lot in the past also. Interesting to note, she was all 'fingers -in' while on the red carpet early on while attending the festival. Famous celebrity gossip blogger Perez Hilton, even called her out on her behaviour terming it, 'unladylike'. But aren't we already used to celebrities pulling these stunts? Tell us what you think.
Comedian Kapil Sharma, host of the popular show Comedy Night with Kapil, reportedly left organisers fuming after he refused to host CCL 4, at the last minute. According to reports, he did so solely because of he didn't get a vanity van of his own.
Kapil was apparently supposed to start rehearsing with Mandira, also co-hosting CCL, by noon, but showed up a good two hours late, leaving no time for rehearsal. Reportedly, Kapil's team made a lot of demands and after the organisers offered him an AC room, he plain refused. He eventually walked out, leaving no time for the organisers to recover. According to reports, Kapil, who seems to share a great rapport with Salman Khan, was afraid his antics would upset Sallu bhai, and his brother Sohail Khan (co-owner Mumbai Heroes). And when Kapily called SOhail up, he apparently told Kapil to keep out of it.
