Aamir Khan talks of violence against women, moves viewers

The thinking actor was back on the small screen on Sunday, March 2. Aamir Khan's television show Satyamev Jayate on its first episode talks about violence against women against the backdrop of Delhi Gangrape case 2012. Aamir requested parents to keep their children below 12 years away from the small screen. 
He spoke about travails of women returning from college, school and offices were that left viewers shivering with fear. 

Soon after delivering a knock-out punch with Dhoom 3, Aamir is shown travelling around the country on a bike in in the show. The show is directed by Satayjit Bhatkal. 

Sharing data with the audience relating to the issue, Aamir said, in 2012, only three per cent of the rape cases had led to the punishment of the accused, while only one per cent rape cases had been able to give justice.

Cate Blanchett has won the Academy Award for best actress for her bravura performance as a fragile socialite experiencing a meltdown in Woody Allen's "Blue Jasmine." 

Blanchett had been deemed the front-runner from the very beginning of the Oscar season. It was the sixth Oscar nomination for the Australian actress and her second win, though her first in the leading actress category. Previously she won the 2005 supporting actress trophy for "The Aviator." 



The other nominees Sunday night were: Amy Adams, "American Hustle"; Sandra Bullock, "Gravity"; Judi Dench, "Philomena"; and Meryl Streep, "August: Osage County".

How did you land this role in Shaadi ke side effects? 

Actually, Rangita, daughter of Pritish Nandy got in touch with me to say she had a script which was a sequel to Pyaar Ke Side Effects (2006). She brought me the script, I read it and found myself smiling and chuckling through the entire thing. I asked to meet the director. I met Saket Chaudhary and I couldn’t put the person and the script together, as he has such a serious demeanour. Whereas the script (laughs), it’s almost ironic that he’s written it. It’s funny and it’s strange and it is really a humourous take on marriage and relationships. The prequel is pretty much in that zone. He plays it interestingly. Things that people talk about when out with friends and double dates, but not seen in Indian films before, I’d say. I spoke to Saket and it all come together now (excited laugh).
