Salman gives Jai Ho gang a Sholay treat

Salman Khan treated the team of his upcoming biggie Jai Ho to a special screening of Sholay 3D at a suburban theatre in Mumbai on Wednesday.

Quite in the mood to underline the ' common man' formula that Jai Ho has been hard selling, Salman actually stood in the queue at the box- office window to buy a ticket for himself.

" We have come to watch Sholay because we want to get the whole idea of watching films in theatres ( as the custom was) back then. Sholay is an epic film and I have come to represent my father for the amazing work he has done. I hope Jai Ho is like a patch of this film and that we have learnt well from my father," said Salman, recalling the fact that his father Salim Khan had co- written Sholay with Javed Akhtar.

The actor opted for his casual best and pulled on a jacket to avoid the winter winds. Salman's Jai Ho co- star Daisy Shah opted for a standout pink blazer over denims. Sana Khan, the other new girl, Salman introduces in Jai ho, was also present at the screening.

Also present at the screening was the superstar's rumoured ex- girlfriend Sangeeta Bijlani, who had the shutterbugs in a frenzy with her arrival. TV actor couples Varun Vadola and Rajeshwari, and Yash Tonk and Gauri Yadav, were part of the select group, too. Tulip Joshi and Mahesh Thakur were also among the guests.

After watching the film, Salman tweeted: " It is still the best film ever.. you have to see it. If you have kids, take them too. It is an amazing experience ( sic)."

NGO objects tO Modi's meet with Salman

An animal rights group has written to Narendra Modi expressing its disappointment over his highly publicised appearance with Bollywood actor Salman Khan at a recent kite festival in Ahmedabad.

Salman's infamous involvement in the killing of black bucks and chinkaras is the cause of heartburn for the Rajasthan chapter of Maneka Gandhi- led NGO People For Animals ( PFA).

State in- charge of the PFA, Babulal Jaju - in a letter, dated Jan. 15, to the BJP prime ministerial candidate - has taken exception to Modi flying kites with Salman on Makar Sankranti.

While appreciating his image of an " imaandar, utkrisht, nek dil, swachh chhavi รข€¦. Vikasheel neta " ( honest, high ideal, good hearted, clean image and pro- development leader), Jaju maintained that the kite flying episode with a " criminal" had not only tarnished Modi's image but also hurt the environmentalists and wildlife lovers.

Meanwhile, the Jodhpur district court on Thursday asked Salman to appear before it on January 29 in the poaching case.
