Ekta Kapoor's session interrupted at Jaipur lit fest

Movie and television producer Ekta Kapoor's session at the Jaipur Literature Festival was interrupted Monday when members of Rajput Karni Sena started shouting slogans against her for distorting facts and showing Rajputs in bad light in her TV show "Jodha Akbar". 

As soon as her session "Each Other Stories" started, around 10-12 protesters barged in and started shouting "Ekta wapis jao (Go back, Ekta)". 

This lasted for a minute and during that period the 38-year-old looked unperturbed and told the audience: "This will turn into a 'Jodha Akbar' discussion if I don't continue. It is nothing but background music for me." 



According to an official release, police made a swift move and the protesters were moved away from the venue allowing Ekta to resume the session. 

"The festival believes in freedom of expression and supports respectful and responsible debate between all participants and guests," said the festival director Sanjoy Roy. 



"We thank the Jaipur police for their swift action in maintaining safety at all times, and allowing the event to resume within a minute," he added. 

"Jodha Akbar", which went on air on Zee TV last June, has been courting controversies ever since it started.

Aamir Khan's PK to release on Christmas, his lucky date

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is all set to release his upcoming film 'PK' this Christmas.

Aamir, 48, took to social networking site Facebook to announce the release date of the Rajkumar Hirani directed film. It is his second collaboration with Hirani following the success of '3 Idiots'.

"Hey guys, PK release date is finally locked. This Christmas. My lucky date! Jai Ho!," Aamir posted.

The film was earlier expected to hit theatres on June 6.



It stars Anushka Sharma, Sushant Singh Rajput, Boman Irani and Sanjay Dutt in prominent roles.

Aamir off-late has become quite active on social networking sites to promote friend Salman Khan's upcoming movie 'Jai Ho'.

The actor even posted a short poem to promote the movie.

"Teri Talaash Main Hum Duur Ja Nahi Saktay, Tu Kitna Paas Hai Tujko Bata Nahi Saktay, Hamain Malom Hai Ye Zindagi Char Din Ki Hai, Magar Teray Bina Ye Char Din Bita Nahi Saktay.

Four days to go! Jai Ho!," he wrote. 'Jai Ho' will hit theatres this Friday.

NEW DELHI: Indian minister Shashi Tharoor, whose wife was found dead in a luxury hotel room, called Sunday for a swift inquiry so the truth "can come out as soon as possible", an official said. 

Tharoor wrote to the home minister on Sunday to pledge his full cooperation with investigations into his wife's death on Friday, after she exposed his alleged adultery with a Pakistani journalist on Twitter. 
"Mr. Tharoor has requested the home minister to expedite the inquiry so that the truth behind his wife's death can come out as soon as possible," Tharoor's private secretary Abhinav Kumar told AFP. 

"He is in a state of shock. He is anxious and keen to know the truth... what happened that day, no one can say." 
Tharoor, the junior human resources development minister, found his wife Sunanda Pushkar dead in her five-star room in New Delhi on Friday evening after he returned from a party meeting.
